Meetings are not recurent and happens when a subject to present or discuss appear. Proposals can be adressed directly to the chairs or shared on the mailing list.

Minutes are taken using a shared google doc for witch the chairs have editing rights and participants can comment. Eidtingn rights can be granted to a scribe. The minutes of the meetings, including the minutes of the WG Task Forces, are stored on the minutes folder on this repository under the name YYYY-MM-DD[-TF].html (where the optional [-TF] stands for -a11y, -ann, -dc, or -fxl for the accessibility, annotation, digital comics, and fixed layout task forces, respectively). • 2026, October 1, Launching Digital Comics Task Force. Digital Comics Task Force aims to address specific non-normative work and challenges within the digital comics ecosystem. This plenary will present the challenges and process for this work, which, given the significant time zone differences, will prioritise writing-based collaboration via GitHub Issues labelled with TF: Comics and reach out to publishers and reading system creators to collect feedback and encourage participation.
• 2026, September 3th, tools for the publishing community group As our group continues to facilitate incubation and support the advancement of digital publishing standards, we aim to discuss how we can refine our processes to better support our collaborative goals and clarify how our group’s work aligns with the broader W3C ecosystem.
• 2026, July 9th, language tagging We will review concrete examples (e.g. TTS mispronunciations, frequent language shifts, “dead” languages, and typographic side effects) and clarify what can be solved by better markup versus what requires changes in reading systems or assistive technologies. • 2026 may 28th Incubation and standardisation Following recurrent discussions going back and forth between Community and Maintenance WG, challenging how topics are incubated before becoming part of the EPUB specification, we will hold a plenary discussion on this workflow. This discussion will build on the GitHub thread “Incubation of features and Ideas vs. adding them to the Spec” to clarify when issues are better handled by the CG and when they should move to the WG. During the plenary, we will collect concrete ideas, expectations, and next steps from both implementers and content creators, with the goal of establishing a clearer and more predictable path from incubation to specification changes.
• 2026 april 23th Protect and Defend Your Content in the Emerging AI Era We will host presentations of available services and explore practical approaches to detection, response, and prevention.

• 2026 february 26th parallel content in EPUB building on the explainer “Parallel Content” and the GitHub discussion “Ways to publish and consume parallel contents”. The goal is to collect concrete use cases and requirements from content creators and implementers, and to discuss whether and how this work should evolve into a dedicated EPUB WG task force.
• 2026 january 29th what is the W3C Web Publications format suitable for? We will discuss what the W3C Web Publications format is suitable for and explore its distinction from EPUB and other formats — in other words, under what conditions it is the best option.
